Post-Pickup Veterinary Exam Requirement

The purchaser agrees to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup or delivery.

A copy of the vet report must be emailed to lucyappel@bellspurr.com as confirmation.

Failure to complete this initial exam voids the health guarantee provided by Bellspurr.

If any health concerns are discovered, the purchaser must notify the seller immediately and provide documentation from the examining veterinarian.

Initial

 Spay/Neuter Agreement

This kitten is sold with no breeding rights and is subject to a strict spay/neuter requirement.

We spay or neuter all kittens before they leave at or around 16 weeks of age, except in rare, pre-approved cases. If your kitten is one of these exceptions, this agreement remains binding to ensure sterilization at the appropriate age.

We will follow up with advice and reminders to support you through the process.

How It Works

You agree to have your kitten spayed or neutered by the time they reach 6 months of age or 5 pounds, whichever comes first.

You must provide proof of sterilization by emailing the vet invoice and signed confirmation form to lucyappel@bellspurr.com.

Bellspurr will send you periodic reminders to help you meet the deadline.

If you fail to provide proof of sterilization by the deadline, you will be in breach of contract. Bellspurr may pursue civil penalties of up to $10,000 in liquidated damages, enforceable in all U.S. states.

Treatment of Cat

The purchaser agrees that:

  • Declawing is strictly prohibited.
  • The cat may not live outdoors.
  • No tattoos, piercings, or body modifications allowed.
  • The kitten should initially be confined to a private room with toys, litter box, food, and human contact.
  • Diet must not be changed abruptly.

Breed-Specific Considerations

Maine Coons are a unique breed with specific needs that require attentive care. By signing this agreement, the purchaser acknowledges the following:

Ear Maintenance
Maine Coons have large, tufted ears that can accumulate wax or buildup. We recommend checking the ears weekly. If you notice a crust, odor, or discharge, take your cat to the veterinarian. It’s not an emergency but may require treatment with prescription medication.

Regular Grooming
Maine Coons have long, dense coats that require brushing several times per week to prevent matting, tangles, and hairballs. Neglecting coat care may cause discomfort, health issues, and can result in veterinary grooming fees.

High-Protein Diet Requirement
This breed grows slowly and reaches full size around 3 to 4 years of age. To support healthy development, a high-protein, grain-free kitten diet is strongly recommended until at least 12 months of age. Sudden changes in diet should be avoided.

Safe Indoor Environment
Maine Coons are friendly, curious, and highly social. This kitten must live indoors only. Open windows must have screens. Access to garages, balconies, attics, or other unsafe areas must be restricted.

Mental Stimulation & Play
Maine Coons are intelligent and thrive on interaction. The buyer agrees to provide regular playtime, vertical climbing options, toys, and human affection to prevent boredom and promote emotional well-being.

Size & Strength Considerations
As Maine Coons mature, their strength increases. The buyer is responsible for ensuring child safety, using sturdy scratching posts, and monitoring for destructive behaviors, especially in multi-pet households.

Initial

Relinquishment of Ownership of Cat or Permanent Transfer of Cat by Purchaser

Relinquishment or Transfer

If you cannot keep the kitten for any reason, you must contact Bellspurr first.
Under no circumstances may the cat be surrendered to a shelter, lab, or pet store.

Initial

 Breach of Contract

Any violation of this agreement allows Bellspurr to reclaim the cat without refund. Legal ownership will revert to Bellspurr without due process if necessary.

There are no other conditions or guarantees, verbal or implied. No verbal deviations or additions are valid. No other warranties or guarantees are provided other than those specifically outlined in this Contract.

Initial

Additional Legal or Compliance Clauses

No Rehoming Without Consent
The kitten may not be resold, rehomed, or transferred without written permission from Bellspurr. This protects against unauthorized breeding, hoarding, or surrender to third parties.
Initial

Notification of Change in Contact Info
The buyer agrees to notify Bellspurr if their address, phone number, or email changes—especially during the kitten’s first year of life.
Initial

Lifetime Return Policy
If at any time the purchaser is unable to care for the cat, the kitten must be returned to Bellspurr or rehomed with written approval. There will be no refund, but the seller will assist in finding a suitable home.
Initial

No Use for Commercial Purposes
The kitten may not be used for commercial breeding, advertising, resale, rental, or entertainment purposes without explicit written consent.
Initial

Emergency Medical Treatment Obligation
In the event of an illness or injury, the purchaser agrees to seek timely veterinary care. Failure to do so may be considered neglect under local and state animal welfare laws.
